Google Cloud Print

PRINTING FROM A CHROMEBOOK

While cloud based tools will enable a more paperless learning environment, there may be times when you will need to print a document. Chromebooks do not allow for the installation of individual printer drivers, but this does not mean that you are unable to print from them. The following video describes how to enable Google Cloud Print, which uses another computer at home as a "print server" that connects the Chromebook to the actual printer.

Notes on this video:
  • Click on the little "gear" icon at the bottom right corner of the video to increase the video quality and view it full screen.

  • A written step by step tutorial is available here: How to Set Up Google Print on Your ChromebookCloud Print Ready badge

  • Some printers come "Google Cloud Print Ready." Please see the user manual for your printer to see how to enable Cloud Print for your particular printer model.
  • A similar service will enable students to print (with limitations) to some on-campus printers.
